PhotoVoice

Photovoice allows me to combine my passion for film photography with sociology, using visuals to capture and reflect on social issues. Through my projects, I help others share their stories, placing their personal experiences within a broader sociological framework. Whether it’s exploring identity or community, PhotoVoice becomes a powerful tool for empowerment and social awareness.

I use the projects to amplify voices and create spaces for reflection through film photography, helping my community see their stories as part of a larger narrative. In these projects, I showcase photos through personal experiences with social themes, offering a raw and timeless perspective. I'm always working on my visual storytelling with sociological insight, I aim to foster understanding, create art, and inspire meaningful change.

Project #1: "Between Two Worlds"

Explore Rohan’s journey as a Nepalese-American, captured through 35mm film photos. This project highlights the contrasts between communal life in Nepal and individualism in America, while reflecting on family, cultural identity, and the challenges of balancing two worlds. Dive into a visual story of traditions, connections, and the bittersweet emotions of cultural assimilation.

Project #2: Seiji Oda "Finding Peace"

In a world where chaos often reigns, Seiji Oda’s music blends Bay Area beats with Japanese influences, offering a sound that is both reflective and energetic. Seiji’s work is a unique fusion of his cultural heritage and personal experiences, resonating deeply with his listeners. I had the chance to interview Seiji, where we explored not only the inspiration behind his latest track Peaceful but also his creative process, his approach to live performances, and how both his Japanese roots and Bay Area upbringing shape his music. Seiji explores how he balances life’s chaos, the cultural influences that inspire him, and how he uses music as a way to connect with his audience and find peace within himself.
